Stop trying, I say, to save all humanity.
The task's way beyond your capacity.
Focus, instead, on your self, in the manner best.
Don’t worry what’ll happen with the rest.
For, the world's God's, so He’ll take care of it.
He’ll do with it as He wills, as He deems fit.
He’s been doing that since eternity past
And will keep doing so till the very last.
So, don’t think that it's you who can or should
Save the whole world, making all things good.
Your intention maybe noble, but it just can’t be
That you'll be able to save all humanity.
Work on your own self, it’s all you need to.
It’s all you should, and also, all you can, do.
Do just that, I tell you, and that's enough.
There’s no need to fret about any other stuff.
Focus on your true well-being, listen to what I say,
Leave the world to God to handle in His way.
It's His, and so, He'll manage its fate.
Don’t this right to yourself seek to arrogate.
If you do that, you’ll simply waste your life,
Producing no good, only just more strife.
In the name of saving the world, what can you expect
But failure and misery if your own good you neglect?
Take good care of yourself, be the best you can be.
Know this to be the best way to serve humanity,
And not just humanity, but God’s creation as a whole.
Make this as your life’s purpose, your major goal.
This is what you might call ‘enlightened self concern’.
The wisdom of what I say I hope you’ll soon discern.
Really supurrrr poem! God bless the poet!
