Why You've Sent Us to Earth I’m So Confused

Why You’ve sent us to Earth I’m so confused.

On this basic question a great many have mused.

Is it as a great blessing here us You have sent,

Or, have You put us here as a grave punishment?

Have you sent us to Earth for a test,

To see who fails and who does the best?

Are we here to act in some grand cosmic play,

And then be sent to Heaven or Hell on 'Judgment Day'?

Are we here simply to exist, to somehow survive,

Or, are we here to bloom, flourish and thrive?

Are we placed here something 'big' to achieve,

And to behind us some 'worthy' legacy leave?

Or, are we here for no reason or rhyme,

Simply sent to Earth to pass some time?

Are we here to achieve some purpose great,

Or is it simply to eat, work, sleep and copulate?

Have we been sent here in order to entertain You,

Or, to go on a search for what's ultimately true?

Are we here by mere accident, simply by chance,

Or, were we sent here our soul's level to enhance?

Some say we’re here to seek to fulfill our desires,

That we should ‘achieve’ much and be ‘highfliers’.

Others believe this world's a dark and evil place

And that only by shunning it can we earn Your grace.

Some say this world we must intensely despise,

Others believe the world is You in physical guise.

Some teach that in this world we should take delight,

Others say that from it we should seek quick flight.

Which of all these is true, I just don’t know,

It’s so confusing for me—really, truly so.

The answers we give shape what of our life we make,

So, the truth of this, God, please tell me, for my sake!
